Enjoy FREE BACON at Iowa City’s first sneak peek of “State of Bacon” as part of Landlocked Film Festival on Saturday, August 23rd at FilmScene
The Landlocked Film Festival will provide a sneak peek of Iowa’s feature-length mockumentary “State of Bacon” at FilmScene on Saturday, August 23rd. Touted as Iowa’s very own “Rocky Horror Picture Show”, the film is loosely based upon the infamous Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. The movie tells the kinda real but mostly fake tale of an oddball group of characters leading up to the unique cult-like celebration. Bacon-enthusiasts, Governor Branstad, Senator Grassley, a bacon queen, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, members of PETA, and an envoy of Icelanders are not excluded from this bacon party and during the course of the film become intertwined with the organizers of the festival to show that bacon diplomacy is not dead. FREE BACON will be offered during the limited screening and beer will be made available for purchase behind the concession counter.
