For the 3rd year straight, the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival partnered with Keystone Neighbourhood Company to bring the popular Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour back to Keystone Resort, Colorado on June 22nd and 23rd. In 2013, over 5,000 participants found more bacon, more bacon-inspired cuisine, live music and a new and improved bacon education series. Event co-founder, Brooks Reynolds explained, “The Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour believes bacon education is at the core of a healthy bacon economy. So, we strengthened our lecture series by adding famous bacon purveyors to the ranks of Certified Bacon Instructors. From Eden Farms’ Nick Jones to Denver Bacon Company’s Justin Brunson. All participants had the opportunity to receive a first class bacon education.”
Some decided to cut bacon class and instead join fellow bacon-lovers in celebrating the magnificence of all things bacon, listen to live music from bands like Hell’s Belles and the Steeldrivers while enjoying icy cold beverages. Festival organizer, Maja Russer, stated, “In the words of Ferris Bueller, ‘Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.’ And, by ‘it’, I’m sure Mr. Bueller meant ‘BACON’.”
The two-day event featured more than a ton of Iowa and Colorado bacon (3,000 lbs.) along with bacon-inspired cuisine from over 18 food vendors, Colorado’s Biggest Bacon Bloody Mary Bar, live music, and samples of Beggin’ Strips® for those with bacon-loving dogs at home.
