Tickets for the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival will be available for purchase via online lottery and onsite sale.
On January 21st, tickets to the
Self-proclaimed bacon connoisseur Andrew Walters admitted, “I was sitting behind my computer ten minutes before noon hitting refresh, refresh, refresh! And, then my computer screen read ‘Sold Out’. I was on the edge of tears.”
In response to passionate letters and emails from hard-core bacon lovers across the country, the Iowa Bacon Board and its sponsors have agreed to release 100 additional tickets to the public. Brooks Reynolds, Iowa Bacon Board Chair explained, “The past few weeks have been a roller coaster ride for the Iowa Bacon Board and our valued sponsors. We’re excited by the number of people interested in attending the festival, but heartbroken for those bacon enthusiasts who weren’t able to buy a ticket online. In response, we’ve made some changes that will allow us to offer 100 additional tickets. We want to make certain that the world’s most dedicated bacon lovers will be in attendance.”
The 100 tickets will be released for purchase in two ways: through an onsite sale and an online drawing.
On Saturday, February 12, one ticket will be made available for purchase to each of the first fifty people standing in line outside of Blue Moon Dueling Piano Bar in West Des Moines when the bar opens its doors at 4 PM. Bacon enthusiasts willing to brave the elements are welcome to line up outside as early as they feel necessary.
Additionally, from Friday, February 18th through Sunday, February 20th, submissions to an online drawing will be accepted at www.blueribbonbaconfestival.com. Twenty-five winners will be announced on Monday, February 21st providing winners the opportunity to purchase two tickets each.
