December 29, 2011 (Des Moines, IA) – All tickets to the 5th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, “Baconpocalypse Now: I love the smell of bacon in the morning” presented by Iowa Select Farms are officially sold out. All four thousand tickets were bought within the first 25 minutes of the online only sale.
The Iowa Bacon Board was overjoyed at the response and mindful of those bacon lovers who weren’t able to purchase tickets in time. When asked why the availability of tickets was limited, Brooks Reynolds, Iowa Bacon Board Chair, responded, “Over the past 5 years, the Iowa Bacon Board has increased the event’s size by a factor of 20, and we’re committed to growing the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival at a manageable pace into the future. That is, of course, if the world doesn’t end after the BACONPOCALYPSE!”
For those who were unable to secure tickets to the fifth annual festival, there are a variety of events taking place during Bacon Week, the week leading up to the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. In addition, fifteen tickets will be distributed to winners of a variety of bacon competitions taking place beginning next week and ending on February 15, 2012.
